Alaska’s Rep. Don Young makes a cameo in the dealership’s latest ad by stumbling across three of the Interior’s living legends who’re making jokes about how the 2017 Can-Am Defender… um… raises their spirits? Pitches their tent? Curves their hot dog?
The eager driver of the Can-Am Defender is 98-year-old Urban Rahoi, who made headlines in 2016 for flying himself back to Fairbanks on a hunch just hours before he had a stroke. Also in attendance is Bud Fate, the 87-year-old father-in-law to U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan, and Cliff Everts, another legend in Alaska aviation. The trio has appeared in a handful of ads for the dealership, which is owned by Craig Compeau of “Doomsday Preppers” fame.
It won’t be the first time a politician talked about the little blue pill known as Viagra in an ad, but at least Bob Dole left office before endorsing the product.
Look I am no prude and I know that when a bunch of guys get together that the talk can be a little....colorful.
Hell the same holds true when a bunch of women get together,
However typically such talk is not put on display in an advertisement for all terrain vehicles.
And typically it does not involve a sitting Congressman.
Having said that from all reports Young was not paid so he did nothing unethical by appearing in the ad.
The morality of it I will leave up to you.
P.S. It should be noted that this is in no way the most embarrassing thing that Don Young has done while representing the people of Alaska.
In fact I would put this pretty far down on the list.
