Rodger Bumpass, the voice of Squidward Tentacles on the animated TV series "SpongeBob SquarePants," was arrested in Burbank on Friday on suspicion of drunk driving.
Police found Bumpass leaning against his blue PT Cruiser, which was stopped in the middle of a road, the Los Angeles Times reported. When officers approached, he walked away and nearly fell.
The newspaper said Bumpass failed a field sobriety test, and a Breathalyzer showed his blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit.
People magazine reported that Bumpass admitted to driving before police found him.
Burbank police records showed Bumpass, 64, was booked shortly after 11 p.m. and released the next morning on $15,000 bail.
In addition to Squidward, Bumpass voiced several other characters on the show, including Gill Gilliam and Purple Doctorfish. His IMDb page listed credits for voice work on shows such as "Invader ZIM," "Teen Titans" and "Teen Titans Go." He also did work in both video games and movies, often supplying "additional voices" to animated feature films.
