Pretty Little Liars Finale Viewership Falls From 2014

There were arrests, recreated proms and a daring escape on the Season 5 ender of the ABC Family series last night. But even with all that, Tuesday’s Pretty Little Liars was down 15.1% in total viewership from the Season 4 finale of March 18, 2014.

As Deadline Hollywood said, Last night’s finale drew 2.645 million compared to the last spring finale, which had an audience of 3.116 million. All of which means the PLL Season 5 finale was the least watched season ender the Warner Horizon and Alloy Entertainment produced series has ever had. The previous finale low was the 2.874 million of Season 3 on March 19, 2013.

Still PLL was the top original on cable last night with a 1.3 rating among Adults 18-49. It was also No. 1 among Women 18-49 where it ABC Family logogot a 2.2 rating. That rating among the overall 18-49 demo was actually even with last year’s S4 season ender and up 18% from the same demo result of the June 10, 2014 S5 premiere. That debut pulled in 2.722 million total viewers or just about 3% more than last night’s 8 PM “Welcome To The Dollhouse” finale. Among other key demos like Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34, last night’s PLL hit season highs with 1.7 and 3.1 ratings respectively. Among the Adult 18-34 demo, last night’s viewership of 1.2 million was down just 7% from the S4 finale. Among Women 18-49 the S5 finale viewership of 1.4 million was even with the S4 season ender results in the same demo.

Always a powerhouse on social media, the PLL finale has proved the top most tweeted telecast of 2015 so far with approximately 1.3 million tweets during the broadcast. And there will be at least two more seasons of ABC Family’s most watched ever series –  PLL was renewed for a sixth and seventh season back in June 2014.
